The western Algarve generally has lower temperatures than the eastern Algarve and the area west of Lagos offers
an especially welcome respite from the harsh summer heat of the
interior. Likewise the higher ground in the mountains of Monchique
are considerably cooler.
The Algarve has a wonderful range of temperatures with one of the warmest climates
in mainland Europe. The average maximum Algarve termperature is 28 degrees celcius for July and
August. January is the coolest month when the average maximum temperature
in the Algarve is a respectable 15 degrees. Sea temperatures are between 14 degrees
in February and 21 in September.
