Silves
Silves
inland from Carvoeiro in the western
Algarve, with its old manor houses (traces of a rural world
sheltered between walls) still preserves is historical harmony.
From the imposing walls of Silves castle we have a wonderful view
of the town. Inside its walls there is an Arab cistern, and old
water deposit to supply the town. The gothic doorway of the Cathedral
has an image in jasper of Nossa Senhora da Conceição. After having
a good lunch in one of the town restaurants, you may pay a visit
to the Archeology Museum or travel on to Monchique.
